Essential Commands to Teach Your Dog

Here are some great commands that my friend Clement from https://www.sweethomevacation.com has been walking me through.

Sit

This is one of the easiest dog obedience commands to teach, so it’s a good one to begin with.

  • Hold a treat near to your dog’s nose.
  • Move your hands up, allowing his head to follow the deal with and leading to his bottom to lower.
  • Once he’s in sitting position, claim “Sit,” provide him the deal with, and share affection.
  • Repeat this sequence a few times every time until your dog has it mastered. After that ask your dog to sit ahead of mealtime, when departing for walks, and during different conditions where you’d like him calm and seated.

Come

This command might help keep a dog out of trouble, bringing him back in the event that you lose grip on the leash or accidentally leave leading door open.

  • Set a leash and collar on your own dog.
  • Decrease to his level and declare, “Arrive,” while gently pulling in the leash.
  • When he reaches you, prize him with affection and a delicacy.
  • Once he’s mastered it with the leash, take it off – and practice the order in a safe and sound, enclosed area.

Down

This can be one of the most difficult commands in pup obedience training. Why? As the job is a submissive position. You might help by keeping training positive and relaxed, specifically with fearful or anxious dogs.

  • Look for a particularly good smelling handle, and carry it in your shut fist.
  • Hold your side up to the dog’s snout. When he sniffs it, move your side to the ground, so he follows.
  • Afterward slide your hand along the bottom before him to inspire his body to check out his head.
  • Once he’s found in the down position, tell you “Straight down,” give him the handle, and share affection.
  • Repeat it each day. If your pet tries to be seated up or lunges toward your side, say “No” and have your hand apart.
  • Don’t push him right into a down location, and motivate every step your dog takes toward the right position. After all, he’s operating hard to figure it out!

Stay

Before attempting this one, make sure your dog is an expert at the “Sit” command.

  • First, ask your dog to “Sit.”
  • In that case open the palm of your hand in front of you, and say “Stay.”
  • Take a few steps back again. Reward him with a treat and affection if he stays.
  • Gradually boost the number of steps you take just before giving the treat.
  • Always reward your pup for staying put – whether or not it’s simply for a few seconds.
  • This is an exercise in self-control for your dog, so don’t be discouraged if it takes a while to master, particularly for puppies and high-energy dogs. After all, they want to be on the move and not only sitting there waiting.

There are people who prefer to own a cat and we cannot blame them for their choices. Furthermore, let us check why most of the people prefer to have a dog and what are the things we truly enjoy with them.

5. You always have them excitingly waiting for you to come home.

Dogs are known to be overly attached to their owners, don’t you love it even if you’re living alone or everyone is busy at their work, your dog will always be there to approach and hug you each and every time you arrive? How to Raise Your Dog Healthy and Happy

Getting a dog as your pet is not just an animal to be with you all the time when you’re living solo, dogs have feelings, needs and wants just like us, humans normally do. In fact, if you have healthy relationship with your dog, you can be at ease every time you leave at home.

Here are the fun ways to raise your dog healthy and happy. Eventually when you raised them well, you too can benefit from it.

  1. No hitting allowed

Try to be modest at him even when he’s being a little bit moody at times. This is to let him know that you understand him during “his” bad days. Always be gentle, never punch or hurt them as they might have scars and it will leave marks on their skin.

  1. Give them a good diet

Never allow them to overeat, they will find the difficulty to move and hard to breathe if overweight. Fat dogs when running can easily feel unease and they can no longer run with you in the morning, since their body fats will make them to be lazy and sleep all day.

  1. Constant supply of water

Change the water container at least once a day and refill it up with fresh water. Your dog needs lots of fresh water to keep their body to function properly and to digest food normally.

  1. Make time to groom your dog regularly

To keep your dog’s skin shiny, healthy and clean from lies wash them with a dedicated shampoo for them and brush their hair. If you notice that they have lumps or cysts on the skin bring them immediately to a veterinarian. There is no other person to know what’s the real cause of those lumps only the veterinarian.

  1. Let him swim

Take your dog out for a swim, a perfect exercise to prevent him to suffer from arthritis or stiff joints.

Top 10 Tips on How to Train Your Dog

It is commonly known that Vancouver is a dog friendly city. Here are some tips about how to train your dog and live comfortably in this urban jungle we call home.

You can simply implement new boundaries and start to see behaviours that you like, occuring more often – by being aware of how you and your dog co-exist.

Here are the top 10 tips about how to train your dog.

Be Confident

Whenever you ask your dog to do something, do so with conviction. It really is much easier getting your dog to comply when you are calm.

Be Patient

When you are patient, your puppy is more likely to respond to you. Try to avoid getting disappointed when training. You may do so by giving them a more exaggerated cue, making a few steps forwards or back, or getting rid of distractions.

Be Consistent

Try to be consistent with everything so your dog does not get confused. Coach close friends and family on guidelines around your dog to prevent blended signals and opportunities for your dog to pick up bad habits!

Set Realistic Expectations

Practice skills in easy environments such as your home, while you’re vacuuming, then progress to public places like sidewalks (but avoid any Scottsdale Demolition sites), and finally buffer these skills by adding small distractions incrementally.

Understand Your Dog

Dogs learn mainly through association and consequence. However, they also spend a lot of time reading our body language! Being aware of how you carry yourself and what you indirectly teach your dog most definitely impacts the success of your dog’s training.

Practice, Practice, Practice!

Set aside 30 seconds to 5 minutes to practice setting limitations, practicing manners and polishing up on obedience skills. This takes time and requires awareness! Ask them to do something before giving any treat rewards!

Use all of these techniques and include each of them within your day to day program. You will be pleasantly surprised what you can accomplish with awareness and small practice sessions each day.
