Preamble:

Windows & Linux are the dominant operating system being used. This fast-paced course takes you through the installation and administration of Linux and Windows Operating system in a network environment.

Objective of the Course: The course aims to provide students with knowledge of the principles and practical uses of windows and Linux in a networked environment. Skills and knowledge will be taught from the perspective of networked environment.

Outcome of the Course: This hands on System administration course teaches students how to install, maintain, configure and tune an operating system in a networked environment. Students will also learn to perform basic administrative tasks such as adding and managing users, creating and maintaining file systems.

This course provides skills in Windows & Linux operating system. A person competent in these areas could provide computer support and system maintenance skill.

Contents:

Certificate Course in System and Network administration
    a. Computer Fundamentals and Computer Networks [2 days]
    b. Operating System Concepts
           i. Windows Basics [5 days]
          ii. Linux Basics [8 days]
   c. Linux System Administration [10 days]

Fees
Course Fees : Rs 12000/- + Rs 250/- (Admission Fee) + Service tax on the course fee will be charged extra at actuals. (Present rate of service tax is 10.3%).

Graduates with IT, Computer Science or Electronics as optional subjects, Graduate in Engineering, M.C.A, DOEACC O level, A Level, B Level, PGDCA or Diploma

Admission
Admission will be based on the marks scored in the qualifying exam. Individual call letters by email or fax or by letter will be sent to the candidates for admission. The admission for selected students shall be on 08-Mar-2010. All candidates selected for admission have to be present on 08-Mar-2010 with all the necessary documents (originals and attested copies) before 10 AM. Candidates offered admission must remit the full fees or first installment of fees on the same day of counseling, failing which the admission is not guaranteed. The originals of qualifying degree certificate/ course completion certificate/ mark lists up to the last semester/year examination have to be produced for verification and the attested copies should be submitted.

Class & lab timings
 The classes and labs are from 9.15 am to 12.30 pm and 2.00 pm to 5.15 pm Monday to Friday.

DOEACC CENTRE, CALICUT is located 20 kms away from Calicut City and is functioning near the NITC (REC), Calicut campus. The bus stop is CEDT or ‘Panthrandu’ and the present bus fare is Rs.10.00 from city.
